Windsor-Essex has had 22 COVID-19 deaths in five days, with 11 reported in a single day

As of Monday, there are 41 outbreaks across several sectors.  Two schools are in outbreak, though all classes have been moved online until at least Jan. 4 as per an order from the health unit.  Outbreaks are active at Immaculate Conception Catholic School and St. Mary French Immersion Catholic Elementary School. There are also three hospital outbreaks, one at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and two on different floors at Windsor Regional Hospital s Met campus. The Salvation Army Center of Hope, Manor Lodge House, Victoria Manor Supportive Living and Assisted Living Southwestern Ontario are also in active outbreak. There are 14 workplace outbreaks:  Six in Leamington s agriculture sector.

Last updated: Thursday December 24th, 10:31am The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 141 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County as of Thursday, bringing the local total to 6,464. Cases increased from 6,323 on Wednesday December 23rd to 6,464 on Thursday December 24th and 1,290 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex. They say 5,060 people locally have recovered (an increase of 147 recoveries today). As of Thursday, the Health Unit is reporting nine new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the local death toll to 114. Windsor-Essex surpasses 6,000 COVID-19 cases

Article content The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 213 additional COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing the region’s total number of cases to over 6,000. One of the new cases is attributed to community spread, 37 are related to outbreaks, and 12 are close contacts of confirmed cases.
