Record 250 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex
Windsor-Essex reached a new daily record for cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday while the health unit s top doctor warned the virus will be impossible to contain if people ignore public health advice over the holidays.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 213 additional COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing the region’s total number of cases to over 6,000.
One of the new cases is attributed to community spread, 37 are related to outbreaks, and 12 are close contacts of confirmed cases. The transmission sources for the remaining 161 cases are still under investigation by the health unit.

Four additional COVID-19 deaths were also announced Tuesday. Three were men in their 70s and one was a man in his 80s. They all lived in the general community.
