Route 90 closed due to serious crash on bridge involving four vehicles

OCEAN CITY, Md. Route 90 is closed in both directions due to a multi-vehicle accident on the bridge, according to the Ocean City Police Department.
The Maryland Department of Transportation later released that the crash involved four vehicles.
The Ocean City Fire Department added on Facebook that Ocean City fire, EMS and police units are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash on the Route 90 bridge. Paramedics have treated and transported multiple priority patients, and Maryland State Police Aviation was utilized. Numerous mutual aid fire department ambulances assisted along with the Maryland State Police.

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WEAA) Ocean City police say a Good Samaritan rescued a 2-year-old girl from Assawoman Bay after she was ejected during a multi-vehicle collision.
The five-vehicle crash occurred just before 3 p.m. Sunday on Route 90 Bridge.
Police say the child was ejected with her carseat from a pickup truck.
According to reports, the witness jumped from the bridge into the bay and rescued the girl.
Police believe multiple crashes occurred.
Officials say eight people were transported to hospitals, the child was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Maryland State Police rescued a stranded boater who had run aground in shallow water on Saturday in Cecil County.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 1, based at Martin State Airport, was dispatched to Susquehanna Flats in Cecil County, Maryland to hoist a stranded boater who had run aground in shallow water. The call was received from the U.S. Coast Guard who had vessels in the area but were unable to reach the vessel by any means.

Maryland officials are crediting a man for saving a 2-year-old’s life, after a crash that left a truck teetering off the edge of the Route 90 bridge near Ocean City on Sunday afternoon.
Worcester County 911 dispatchers received word of a crash around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. First responders found a pickup truck perched halfway over the guardrail, and were told that a child had been ejected from its cabin and plunged at least 20 feet into the waters of Assawoman Bay.
That’s when officials say a bystander leapt to the rescue.
