John Sherman Greenwell Jr., 41, of Lexington Park
UPDATE at 12/31/2020/@ 12:20 p.m. – St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Press Release: On December 30, 2020, John Sherman Greenwell, age 41 of Lexington Park, was discharged from the hospital into the custody of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Greenwell was arrested and charged with the following:
Attempted First Degree Murder (two counts)
Attempted Second Degree Murder (two counts)
Assault First Degree (two counts)
Assault Second Degree (two counts)
Dangerous Weapon Intent to Injure (two counts)
Dangerous Weapon Conceal
Resist/Interfere with Arrest
Greenwell remains incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center on a no-bond status.

On Thursday, December 24, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Flat Iron Road and Ryan Lane in Great Mills, for the motor vehicle collision with one subject unconscious.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle in driveway of a private residence that had struck a wooden walkway and sign belonging to Bowles Mulch, the operator was found unconscious and unresponsive inside of the vehicle.
Fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and reported State Troopers were performing CPR on the operator.
December 22, 2020
On Monday, December 21, 2020, at approximately 10:25 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Charles Street and Estevez Road in Allens Fresh, for the reported motor vehicle collision with injuries.
Crews arrived on the scene and located a single Toyota pickup truck off the roadway and in the woods.
A short time later, firefighters requested additional units to the scene to assist, due to the vehicle and victims being off the roadway and in a wooded swamp.
Medical personnel requested two stokes baskets to remove the victims, and two helicopters for their injuries, however, all helicopters were down due to weather.
December 21, 2020
UPDATE 12/21/2020: On Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 1:45 p.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the area of Flat Iron Road and Ryan Lane in Great Mills, for the reported motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, deputies located a single vehicle off the roadway into a tree with the operator suffering from severe incapacitating injuries. Due to the operator’s injuries a request for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit was made.
Preliminary investigation determined a 2008 Nissan Frontier, operated by Francis Tu Pham, age 71 of Lexington Park, was traveling northbound on Flat Iron Road when the operator lost control while negotiating a curve in the roadway. The vehicle continued off the roadway striking a tree.
