SALISBURY, Md. A New Jersey man will face 30 years imprisonment for attempted second-degree murder in Wicomico County.
Jerry Hamilton, who entered a guilty plea before his sentencing, received the 30 years of imprisonment with 17 years and 16 months active incarceration in the Maryland Division of Corrections. Circuit Court Judge Matthew Maciarello also ruled the 38-year-old would be supervised by the Division of Parole & Probation for five additional years following release.
This May 5 sentencing ties back to events in the early morning hours of Oct. 21, 2017, according to the Office of the State s Attorney press release.
Hamilton was attending a party at a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, located on Salisbury s West Main Street, according to law enforcement. As patrons left the building at closing time, the release reads, Hamilton approached the victim in the street with a handgun concealed in his waistband.
