Fresh concerns over AstraZeneca roll-out - The Fermanagh Herald

Fresh concerns over AstraZeneca roll-out Posted: 10:16 am April 14, 2021 By Zoe Tunney THERE are fresh concerns over the roll-out of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine here following a decision by the Irish government yesterday (Tuesday) to cancel immunisation clinics planning to use the drug there. GPs and pharmacies across Fermanagh have been supplied with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for roll-out in the community while the vaccination centre at the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum is offering doses of the Pfizer drug. The Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has been dogged by problems and controversy ever since it was brought to market before Christmas. However, the British Medical Association’s spokesperson in Fermanagh, Dr Brendan O’Hare, who has over 16,000 patients in his Western Rural Healthcare practice including GP surgeries in Ederney and Castlederg said he is “comfortable with the stance taken here.”

GPs are not to blame for vaccine shortage - The Fermanagh Herald

GPs are not to blame for vaccine shortage Posted: 12:37 pm January 21, 2021 By Roisin Henderson SERIOUS issues are emerging with the Covid vaccine roll out at local GP surgeries, with practices across the county struggling to get enough vials to vaccinate their patients. Some Fermanagh practices have barely been allocated a third of the number of vaccines they need to vaccinate those in the first priority group of the roll out plan, the over 80s, while those who had initially been given a workable allocation have now found themselves without any further deliveries. Ederney GP Dr Brendan O’Hare said his practice, Western Rural Healthcare, had initially been able to vaccinate all their patients aged 80 years, but in the latest round of vaccinations they had been allocated no vaccines at all.
