Below Mount Pleasant Cemetery sits Otter Tail County’s first permanent settlement. Established in 1865, the settlement became known as Clitherall. It was formed by a group who followed a man named Alpheus Cutler. He and his followers, called Cutlerites, splintered away from the Mormon church.
