Sign Up The man had to be rescued from a machine at ETC Sawmills at about 11am today, Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said. He was helped by three fire crews before being taken to hospital for treatment. Jordan Eggington from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.50am to [Elson Road] in Ellesmere. We sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene. Crews arrived to find one patient, a man. He was treated at the scene for serious injuries, and flown to the major trauma centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.”

Works starts on huge Oldbury ambulance hub

WORK has begun on a multi-million pound ambulance service hub in Oldbury. The 76,000 sq ft purpose-built hub, the largest hub of its kind in the country, on a former quarry site in Shidas Lane, will eventually house about 350 operational ambulance staff working 24 hours a day. It will boast spaces for 70 ambulances. Property developer Stoford is delivering the project with contractor McClaren Construction now on the seven-acre site. It aims to complete the hub, which will also include a facility for the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), fleet maintenance and vehicle preparation areas, the Trust’s Education and Training Academy and central stores, next spring.
