A man suffered a significant injury after being stabbed in a subway.
The victim - who is in his 20s - was walking in the underpass near Sainsbury s in Enderley Street, Newcastle, when he was approached by someone he claimed he did not know.

Forensic officers descended on a Stoke-on-Trent street following the discovery of a body.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing two patrol cars and the forensics van outside Fountain Court in Westport Road, Burslem.
Police have now confirmed they attended after a person was found dead.

The crash, between a car and a motorcycle, happened on the A458 Colley Gate at its junction with Colley Lane just after 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday May 4). Medics and police were at the scene with the female rider treated by paramedics for her injuries. The roads were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: Two ambulances were sent to the scene. The woman who had been on the motorbike suffered nasty but non-life threatening injuries.
