The base will be built on derelict land off Shidas Road in Oldbury, opposite Sandwell Council’s tip, replacing a much smaller facility in West Bromwich. The 76,000 sq ft hub will house around 350 ambulance staff, a facility for the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), fleet maintenance and vehicle preparation areas, WMAS’ Education and Training Academy and central stores.
