DESPITE repeated warnings from authorities, certain sections of the community remained defiant and disregarded COVID-19 restrictions imposed during last weekend’s lockdown of the Suva-Nausori containment areas.
On Sunday, a team from The Fiji Times witnessed a group of young men walking freely around in Makoi.
Meanwhile, after the arrest of two intoxicated Lautoka men last Sunday, divisional police commander West Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surend Sami warned there were consequences for those breaching restrictions.
“The message is very clear from police and we hope that people listen to these necessary precautions,” he said of the four arrests made in the West last weekend.
