GUWAHATI: 23 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel from Assam under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NRF) have tested positive for COVID-19 in the second wave till now.
As per source, in the second wave, a total of 23 personnel have been tested positive while 9 have already recovered.
Further as on May 14, total active cases stands at 14 with zero casualties.
Meanwhile, in the first wave, a total of 180 COVID-19 positive cases were registered while one death was recorded.
On the other hand, the total number of RPF personnel under NF Railway who have tested positive for COVID-19 stands at 300. In the first wave, 252 COVID-19 positive cases were detected, in which 251 people recovered with one death. Further, total Covid-19 positive cases in Railway Protection Force (RPF) in the 2nd wave stands at 48, in which 19 recovered and 29 currently active.

Guwahati, May 13 : The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has converted 288 of its passenger coaches into Covid care isolation wards and is also equipping the existing six railway hospitals with oxygen plants, NFR General Manager Anshul Gupta said on Thursday.
Gupta said that to meet the Covid needs of different states, after modifying the 288 passenger coaches as Covid care isolation coaches with 4,608 beds, those were handed over to the northeastern state governments.
The NFR, one among the 17 railway zones in India, operates fully and partially in six of the eight northeastern states, excluding Meghalaya and Sikkim, and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of north Bihar.

Guwahati, May 13 : The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has ambitious plans to promote water transport, tourism and protection of environment in the mountainous northeastern region, an official said on Thursday.
NFR General Manager Anshul Gupta said the NFR has recently signed an MoU with the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) to provide a multi-modal logistic solution to transporters and to effectively utilise railway and waterway infrastructure for faster economic development of the northeast.
