The city has proposed installing a buffered or parking-protected bike lane, eliminating a travel lane, cutting pedestrian exposure to 20 feet and implementing pedestrian refuge areas.
The portion of Walnut Street that needs repaving consists of two travel lanes, a paint-buffered bike lane, two parking lanes and 20 feet of pedestrian exposure. City officials have proposed installing pedestrian refuge areas and converting the bike lane into a parking-protected lane.
