The production-ready Hennessey Venom F5 has finally been unveiled, three years after the car was first showcased as a concept. While the finished product looks largely the same as the show car, it has undergone a series of important changes and Top Gear has had the opportunity to check it out in the flesh.
Sitting at the core of the all-American hypercar is a carbon fiber monocoque that weighs just 190 lbs (86 kg). Similarly, the body panels are made from carbon fiber and the car rolls on a set of bespoke 19-inch and 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
The hypercar wars are heating up as Hennessey has unveiled the Venom F5.
Designed to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary, the Venom GT successor is named after F5 tornados which have wind speeds of up to 318 mph (512 km/h). That wasn’t an arbitrary decision as it hints at the car’s targeted top speed of more than 311 mph (500 km/h).
In order to hit that impressive number, the car has been equipped with a specially developed 6.6-liter V8 engine known as the Fury. It’s hand-built and features a cast iron block, aluminum cylinder heads and a dry sump lubrication system. The engine has also been equipped with two turbochargers which enable it to be the “most powerful production road car engine ever made.”

Wild 1355kW Texas hypercar revealed in road-going form; 24 to be built at $2.8m each
The road-going version of the Hennessey Venom F5 has emerged with what’s billed as the world’s most powerful production car engine – a 1355kW 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V8 designed to send the new American hypercar to a top speed of more than 500km/h.
The top speed claim, which Hennessey plans to verify next year, could hand the Texas-based tuning specialist another world speed record after the previous Venom GT stole the Bugatti Chiron’s thunder in 2014 with a 435km/h run (deemed unofficial, based on the broader Guinness criteria).

At long last, the Hennessey Venom F5 has finally made its official debut, three years after the original prototype was shown. Production of the 100% bespoke hypercar is limited to just 24 units worldwide, and the starting price is US$2.1 million (RM8.51 million).
Powering the Venom F5 is a Hennessey-built 6.6 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine (named Fury), delivering 1,817 horsepower at 8,000 rpm (redline is 8,500 rpm, pretty high for a big bore turbo mill) and 1,617 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Hennessey claims that the engine is the most powerful production road car engine ever made, eclipsing the Bugatti Chiron‘s 8.0 litre W16 quad turbo engine with 1,500 hp and 1,600 Nm. Prior to this, the Venom F5 prototype was fitted with a 7.4 litre mill which made 1,600 hp and 1,762 Nm.
