TAMS costing review must include all applications

June 3, 2021 5:36 pm The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is being called on to ensure that all applications currently in the system for the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) are included in the department’s costing review of the scheme. At a Charter of Rights meeting today (Thursday, June 3) with department officials, representatives of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) called for the review to be completed “without any further delay” and that it must “include all TAMS applications currently in the system where the work or purchase of equipment has not started”. The department officials confirmed that the TAMS costing review is due to be completed in the coming days.

May 20, 2021 4:01 pm The new Wild Atlantic Nature Project “has to give farmers maximum flexibility” to be a success, according to the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA). An IFA delegation – including IFA Rural Development chairman Michael Biggins, IFA Hill chairman Flor McCarthy, Mayo IFA Hill rep Pat Chambers and Mayo IFA chairman Jarlath Walsh – held a meeting with the project organisers earlier this week. An outdoor hill assessment meeting was held in Mayo, the organisation said. The Wild Atlantic Nature Project is focused primarily on the blanket bog Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and associated lands from Galway Bay up to north Donegal.
