New Delhi, April 8 : In a move aimed at optimising the utilisation of resources and maximising the benefits to the masses, Centre s key ministries Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) have decided to converge their various schemes to support Self-Help Group (SHG) entrepreneurs in food processing.
The convergence between the two Ministries is specifically focussed on the Centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME) scheme an all-India scheme to be implemented over a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25 with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore.

The DDC directed the concerned officers to coordinate with District Lead Bank Manager, Shopian and resolve bottlenecks relating to financial implications. He said that the objective of the scheme is to double the farmer’s income by enhancing the value of the products. This can be done by increasing production on one side and diversifying the demand for additional produce by value addition and processing on other hand, he added.
The DDC said that the FME scheme will provide a framework for value chain development and alignment of support infrastructure by identifying a unique food product with a special focus on perishable items in Agriculture produce and a food product widely produced in a district. He advised for general awareness among the people in this regard and also directed for diversification of sale points of apple across the district besides full integration of apple processing with one district one product (ODOP) programme.

New Delhi [India], March 10 (ANI): Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Wednesday informed that the contribution of tourism in employment to the total employment of the country during the year 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 were 12.20 per cent, 12.13 per cent and 12.75 per cent respectively.
As part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched an all India PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme for providing financial, technical and business support for the improvement of micro food processing enterprises, the minister informed in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed a webinar on effective implementation of Budget provisions regarding Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare through video conference, in which some of the cooperative leaders including IFFCO Chairman and Nafed Chairman were invited.
Dileep Sanghani, NCUI President also attended the webinar, though NCUI- being a training organization was not in the list of invitees. The invite was restricted to co-op marketing federations, sources say.
In a comprehensive talk on the subject, the Prime Minister covered every aspect of agrarian economy which included FPOs, cooperatives, fisheries, dairy, SeaWeed, Beeswax and most of all processing of agricultural produce of small and marginal farmers and making them exportable.
Centre Finalizes Products For âOne District One Focus Productâ, To Boost Farmer Incomes And Agri Exports

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in consultation with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries has finalized the products for One District One Focus Product (ODOFP), the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said in a statement.
The products have been identified from agricultural, horticultural, animal, poultry, milk, fisheries and aquaculture, marine sectors for 728 districts across the country.
The list of products have been finalized after taking inputs from the States, Union territories and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
