Several months ago, I told John Overby, editor of the
Central Kentucky News-Journal, that I would love to write a column detailing my experience with the COVID-19 vaccine if I ever got one.

I made sure to get the vaccine in my left, non-dominant arm so I could take a photo of my first dose being administered with my right arm. For me, personally, receiving the vaccine did not hurt, and I did not feel the needle stick. By the grace of God, several hundred biomedical researchers and a decree by the governor of the great state of Kentucky, Phase 1c vaccination appointments opened up statewide on Monday, and I was able to get my first dose of the Moderna vaccine the same day. Even still, scheduling the appointment was the most challenging part by far, and I’d like to tell you how things went down for me, step-by-step.
