SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. The Central Valley School Board race is too close to call, but Pam Orebaugh currently leads with 38 percent of votes.
Ron Linebarger follows behind with 32.3 percent and Jared VonTobel has 29 percent.
Meanwhile in the East Valley School District, Justin Voelker has an early lead with nearly 48 percent of votes, while Carolyn Peterson has 29 percent and Emelie Braxton follows with 22 percent.
These results are just the first batch of results from the primary election; additional results are expected in the coming days.
The top two candidates in each race will advance to the November general election.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. A choice by the Central Valley School Board is frustrating some students and parents. On February 1st, middle and high schoolers will go to campus once a week. Families say this isn’t enough to benefit their children.
Students would only spend about four hours in a classroom chair and finish the rest of the day at home. This approved plan prompted parents and students to protest outside Central Valley High School on Tuesday. They called it “March for More.”
“We have felt there has been very little communication,” said Kristin Williams, a parent within CVSD. “Definitely no opportunity for parents to have their voices heard.”

The Central Valley School District will bring middle and high school students back to classrooms in February.
The CVSD School Board decided to go ahead with the plan at a meeting on Monday, Jan. 11.
Students who have chosen options 1 or 4 will return to in-person learning in a phased in hybrid schedule starting Monday, Feb. 1, according to a message on the school district s website.
