The CDC recently said students can safely sit three feet apart from each other rather than six feet. This allows school districts to bring more students back in classrooms where there was not enough room before.
After two years of use in Pennsylvania schools, it s safe to say that the state-sponsored Safe2Say Something app is helping to protect students in Beaver County.
The app, run through the Pennsylvania Attorney General s office at a cost of $1.6 million annually, was implemented in 2019 and provides a safe way for students to anonymously report threats or unsafe activities. The first year when it was open and available to the students, it got kind of misused, said Bo Blinn, the school resource officer for the Beaver Area School District. A lot of the investigations we went through came out to be kind of unfounded because they weren t legitimate.

Even though all the talk coming into Thursday’s announcement was that the former J&L steel mill property in Aliquippa was the most likely location in western Pennsylvania, Shell instead signed a land option agreement on the soon-to-be closed 300-acre Horsehead Corp. property in Potter and Center townships.
