China Television gets ‘passing grade’ from the NCC

China Television (CTV) received a passing grade for its performance from 2016 to 2019, although it must lower its debt ratio to below 60 percent before its operating license expires in 2025 while not firing employees for adhering to its own broadcasting guidelines, the National Communications Commission (NCC) said yesterday.
It was CTV’s first performance review since the network’s license renewal application was approved in 2016, the commission said.
A terrestrial television license is valid for nine years, and the commission is authorized to evaluate a licenced network’s performance every three years.
Taipei, June 2 (CNA) Taiwan has recorded the first case of blood clotting linked to the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Wednesday, but it did not recommend any changes in current vaccine procedures because of the problem.
2021/06/02 15:48 (CNA photo) TAIPEI (Taiwan New) Academia Sinica epidemiologist Ho Mei-shang (何美鄉) says that as a new wave of COVID-19 cases occurs due to the prevalence of household transmission, it is implausible that Level 3 restrictions will be lifted on June 14 as originally scheduled. Ho said that the semi-lockdown has indeed achieved a certain degree of pandemic prevention, but she deemed it unlikely the alert will be reverted to Level 2, as many infected people who are asymptomatic are causing a rise in household transmissions, UDN reported. However, the epidemiologist suggested that even if the alert level remains at 3, some restrictive measures should be relaxed, such as by opening parks and exercise facilities, per UDN.
Taipei, June 2 (CNA) Health Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) on Wednesday urged people to continue to follow disease prevention measures, as Taiwan reported 549 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths from the disease.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday reported the nation’s first case of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) in a patient who had received a dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
The center on Tuesday announced that about 260,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine had been distributed to local governments.
The doses are expected to cover all eligible people in the first to third priority groups for vaccination in Taipei and New Taipei City, as well as all eligible people in the first priority group in other cities and counties, it said.
