Taipei, May 24 (CNA) The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Monday invalidated a decision by the Kinmen County government the previous day that required all travelers to the offshore county to present a negative COVID-19 test before arrival.
The CECC, the central government authority in charge of pandemic prevention, said it did not receive a request from the county government to impose such a measure.
In the absence of CECC approval, the county government s decision to require proof of negative COVID-19 tests before visits to Kinmen is a violation of Article 37 of the Communicable Disease Control Act, the center said.

Taipei, May 24 (CNA) Taiwan on Monday reported 590 domestic COVID-19 cases, five new imported ones, and six deaths, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
The six fatalities were four men and two women, aged 60-80, who passed away between May 19-22, the CECC said at its daily press briefing.
Of the 590 domestic cases, 256 were from a backlog of confirmed test results over the past few days, the CECC said.
The new cases on Monday brought the total number in the country to 4,917, with over 3,500 confirmed as locally transmitted infections reported since May 15.
TAIPEI (The China Post) â Taipei MRT workers may have tested positive for the COVID-19, according to local Chinese-language media who reported that officials have so far declined to confirm or deny the allegation.
An official from the Taipei MRT system told Taiwan media earlier that day that epidemic-related news will be announced through the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, ä¸å¤®æµè¡ç«æ ææ®ä¸å¿), including news of whether one or more MRT staff have contracted the virus.
Media speculated that MRT workers had direct interactions with passengers amid reports of several spikes of infections in northern Taiwan.
Taipei MRT said that all frontline personnel, including drivers and station service and maintenance employees, are working in groups to lower the risk of cross-contamination should a team member test positive.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday revoked an order by the Kinmen County Government demanding that all visitors arriving by plane had to provide a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19 within three days of their flight, or take a rapid antigen test upon arrival at the airport.
The center issued a news release at midnight yesterday, stating that it had revoked a proclamation issued by the Kinmen County Government on Sunday ordering “all aircraft passengers arriving at Kinmen to cooperate with its contact information registration and take a rapid COVID-19 test, starting from May 24.”
