TAIPEI (The China Post) â The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, ä¸å¤®æµè¡ç«æ ææ®ä¸å¿) announced on Wednesday 267 new local infections and 8 imported cases, bringing the tally to 2,533.
Among the 267 local cases reported today, Taipei City reported 70 cases, New Taipei City listed 129 cases, Changhua County reported 28, Taoyuan County reported another 16, Kaohsiung listed 8 cases, Taichung City reported 5, Keelung City listed 4, Yilan County reported 3 cases, and Tainan City and Hsinchu City both listed 2 cases each.
The new cases include 127 men and 140 women with the youngest being under 5 years old and the oldest being over 80. They began showing symptoms and were tested between April 30 and May 18.

Taipei, May 19 (CNA) Taiwan s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Wednesday raised the COVID-19 alert to Level 3 nationwide after the country recorded over 100 locally-transmitted cases for the fifth consecutive day.
The alert is provisionally effective from today through May 28, the CECC said.
The nationwide alert comes after the CECC raised the COVID-19 alert for Taipei and New Taipei to Level 3 on Saturday, as the two northern cities struggled to contain a spiraling number of domestic infections.

Taipei, May 19 : Taiwan on Wednesday adopted stricter Covid measures in the north to the rest of the nation as the number of locally transmitted cases hit three digits for five consecutive days.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said measures were toughened nationwide because locally transmitted cases have been reported in more than half of Taiwan s jurisdictions, DPA reported.
Under the restrictions, until May 28, residents must wear masks at all times time outdoors. Outdoor and indoor family and social gatherings with more than 10 and five participants, respectively, are prohibited.
