McDonald s Taiwan said in a statement that customers will not be allowed to dine at its restaurants in the cities of Taipei and New Taipei beginning May 17 until May 28, to protect the health of customers and employees.

Taiwan will temporarily ban entry to foreign nationals following record Covid-19 day From CNN s Jadyn Sham Taiwan will temporarily ban foreign nationals from entering the country beginning Wednesday, the country s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced Monday.  The ban comes after the country reported at least 335 new Covid-19 cases Monday, its highest number of infections in a day since the pandemic began. Of the new cases, 333 were locally-transmitted.  The ban will be effective from May 19 to June 18 and will be adjusted on a rolling basis based on the status of the pandemic and effectiveness of those measures, the CECC said.

CNA file photo Taipei, May 17 (CNA) Employers are obligated to grant eligible employees disease prevention childcare leave following the announcement by Taipei and New Taipei that all schools in the two municipalities will be closed, from elementary to high school level, for two weeks starting Tuesday to curb the coronavirus outbreak, the Ministry of Labor (MOL) said Monday. Employers who are found to have forced employees to take annual leave or personal leave instead of disease prevention childcare leave face a fine ranging from NT$20,000 (US$712.22) to NT$1 million for violating the Labor Standards Act, according to the ministry. The Taipei and New Taipei City governments announced Monday that all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools as well as cram schools will suspend face-to-face classes from May 18-28.

A much anticipated travel bubble between Hong Kong and Singapore has been delayed for a second time amid a rise of Covid-19 cases in Singapore.  The travel bubble was due to launch on May 26 and would have allowed quarantine-free travel between the two cities. It has now been delayed till June 13 at least, when Singapore’s current pandemic measures will end.  “In view of the recent COVID-19 epidemic situation in Singapore, the Governments of the HKSAR and Singapore have decided to defer the target date of the inaugural flights under the bilateral Air Travel Bubble (ATB),” a press release from the Hong Kong government explained Monday.
