Taipei, May 7 (CNA) Three different groups of COVID-19 infections have been identified among employees of Taiwan s China Airlines (CAL) and the Novotel airport hotel in Taoyuan and their relatives, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Friday.
The CECC completed genome sequencing of the virus found in six more cases among the 29 people infected in those clusters, CECC official Lo Yi-chun (羅一鈞) said at a COVID-19 press briefing.
The six new results brought to 22 the number of people among the 29 COVID-19 cases for whom genome sequencing has been completed, and the CECC has found three different types of a variant of the virus that first emerged in the United Kingdom among those 22.

The COVID-19 cluster involving employees of China Airlines and the Novotel Taipei Taoyuan International Airport hotel can be traced to three sources, which are all linked to a virus variant imported from the UK, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said yesterday.
The CECC has completed genome sequencing of the viruses which have infected 29 people in the cluster, said Centers for Disease Control Deputy Director-General Philip Lo (羅一鈞), deputy head of the CECC’s medical response division.
There are three different genetic sequences, meaning there are three different sources of infection connected to the cluster, he said, adding that all three are linked to a virus variant from the UK.
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, 中央流行疫情指揮中心) announced on Thursday reported 1 local and 12 more imported COVID-19 infections, bringing the tally to 1,173.
