Taiwan to tighten quarantine rules for flight crews

CNA file photo Taipei, Dec. 28 (CNA) Taiwan plans to extend the quarantine time for arriving flight crews to seven days and stipulate that they must be housed in designated facilities during that time, Deputy Minister of Transportation and Communications Wang Kwo-tsai (王國材) said Monday. The decision was made Saturday, when the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) and the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) met with airline companies to discuss the issue, following a recent case of a pilot who breached COVID-19 protocols and caused Taiwan s first confirmed domestic transmission since April. Currently, commercial airline pilots arriving in Taiwan are required to self-quarantine for three days, and flight attendants for five days, at a hotel or at home.
