Two-thirds of self-employed lose out financially to Covid Half of parents who work for themselves have lost income because their children are at home instead of school 2 March 2021 • 6:00am Almost two-thirds of Britain’s self-employed workers are suffering financially from Covid, according to a new study, as the latest lockdown harms their job prospects. More than half are now earning less than £1,000 per month, the London School of Economics’ Centre for Economic Performance found. That compares with just under one-third at the start of 2020. Home schooling also adds to the strain, with just shy of half of self-employed parents reporting that having their children at home has reduced their incomes.
