DULUTH, Minn. – It’s been a year since Motorhead Madness ended and now a trio of car enthusiasts are hoping to bring the half-a-century old car show back to help the community relive some memories.
The Motorhead Madness car show is one event car lovers could show off their pride and joy every year.
“You’re proud of having them and you like driving them. You like when people look at them and talk about them. It brings a lot of people back to the old days,” said Mike Podgornik, an organizer of the new event.
Motorhead Madness Will Return to DECC in 2022
Last month I reported that the Motorhead Madness event that had a 50+ plus year run was coming to end. Well, that all changed today.
Just before noon today, the official Motorhead Madness event page on Facebook posted a surprise message saying that the popular event for Northland car enthusiasts would return for its 52nd year on March 19th and 20th, 2022 at the DECC.
The update doesn t give much information about the upcoming event, the only message on the official website says, We are pleased to announce that Motorhead Madness will be returning to the DECC for the 52nd year under new ownership. Please stay tuned for forthcoming updates and details.

DULUTH, Minn. – After more than 50 years, Duluth’s annual Motorhead Madness show is coming to a close.
Producers say it’s a hard decision to make, but after COVID-19 along with the non-COVID related deaths of show producer’s wife Joyce along with friend David Swanson who were big parts of the show itself, they decided to call it quits.
They say the car owners, along with the commercial vendors, sponsors and attendees are part of the reason why the show was such a great experience.
Motorhead Madness Will End After More Than 50 Years
After more than 50 years of giving a place for car enthusiasts to meet each spring, Motorhead Madness will cross the finish line and end its run.
2021 would have been the 53rd annual Motorhead Madness, but instead of announcing details of the upcoming event organizer Jack DeJoy made the announcement that he has made the difficult decision to end Motorhead Madness.
In the announcement on Facebook DeJoy said that several factors played into his decision to end the long time event. The death of his wife, Joyce, and friend David Swanson was one of them, he says that they both played a major part in the execution of the show. He also says that the COVID-19 pandemic is obviously a major concern.
