PADUHAH, KENTUCKY (WSIL) Authorities are trying to figure out what caused a nine-vehicle crash on I-24, killing a four-year-old girl and injuring 12 other people. Authorities say eight passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer truck were involved in the incident just before 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Of those wounded, 11 people were taken to local hospitals for treatment; one was flown to an out-of-state hospital. The Paducah Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Team and Detective Chelsee Breakfield are investigating. As of 3:40 p.m. all westbound lanes are still closed from exit 3 to the Ohio River Bridge into Illinois. Passenger vehicles may detour via the U.S. 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge.  However, no SEMI trucks are allowed on the Brookport Bridge due to an 8 ft. Vehicle width restriction, a 9 ft-6 inch height restriction and a 15 ton weight restriction.
