MORRISTOWN, NJ - The body of missing Madison student Ajay Sah has been found, announced Acting Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll. Sah was a foreign exchange student from Nepal and was attending Drew University. He was reported missing on January 22, 2021.
Sah was last seen on the campus of Drew University on January 19, according to police. Reports indicate that he traveled by NJ transit train to New York Penn Station where he was seen on surveillance footage at the Brooklyn Bridge.
In late April, Sah s backpack was discovered in Sea Bright, said authorities. On April 25, the City of New York Police Department notified the Morris County Prosecutor s Office Missing Persons Unit of an unidentified body that was discovered in Anchorage Channel in Brooklyn. The body was later confirmed to by Sah, they said.
He was then
seen on surveillance footage at the Brooklyn Bridge just hours after his disappearance. In Sea Bright, a citizen found Sah’s backpack, which was turned over to police toward the end of April.
Meanwhile, an unidentified body was found in the Anchorage Channel in Brooklyn on March 9 and determined to be Sah’s after a joint investigation between the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Missing Persons Unit and the New York City Chief Medical Examiner.
A
GoFundMe dedicated to the search for the missing student had garnered more than $25,000, while a
Facebook page with the same cause had gained more than 1,100 supporters.

A 22-year-old Drew University student has been missing for two weeks, authorities and his family said.
Ajay Sah, a junior in the College of Liberal Arts and a resident assistant, was last seen exiting a New Jersey Transit train at New York Penn Station around midnight on Jan. 19, the Madison-based school and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said.
His laptop, assignments and study materials were left on his desk at school as if he planned to return, according to family and friends. Shah has not posted on social media since leaving his room and his last credit card transaction was for the purchase of his train ticket.

UPDATE (11 p.m. Tuesday):
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday night that Deris M. Avila-Ulloa was found safe. She made contact with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Missing Persons Unit and responded to the Charlotte Police Department in North Carolina on Tuesday.
Police in Morris County are searching for a 13-year-old girl who has not been seen since before Christmas.
