MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - Caleb Brooks has been discharged from the hospital following his small intestine transplant surgery and post-surgery recovery.
In less than two weeks, Brooks was able to reunite with his family after an initial prognosis of four to six weeks in the hospital after the surgery. According to Calebâs wife Madeline, doctors have told the family Brooks has defied many odds to get to where he is today.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Decatur Police Departmentâs âNo Shave Novemberâ campaign raised $3,000 to help support two law enforcement officers and their families.
Collection will be donated to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Jim England and Morgan County Sheriffâs Office Investigator Caleb Brooks.
England, a former U.S. Marine and Morgan County sheriffâs deputy, was diagnosed with cancer over the summer. Brooks who was critically injured by a bull at his home in August, recently received surgery for a small-intestine transplant.

Officer Joseph Schutt was awarded Best Beard after a departmental vote.
The month-long campaign raised $3,000.

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - Itâs been nearly a week since Morgan County Sheriffâs Office Investigator Caleb Brooks had surgery for a small-intestine transplant.
Brooks and his family have been in Cleveland since before Thanksgiving.
âWe really tried to keep our mind set on why here. Weâre not just here on vacation. Itâs something that has to be done, and weâre up here to get it done. We canât just get discouraged. This is one of the things you canât quit,â Brooks said.
