A Punxsutawney man died Friday morning in a crash on Route 210 and Valier Road in North Mahoning Township.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. said that 81-year-old Ronald Coon was driving north on Route 210 when the vehicle he was driving hit a guide rail head-on. The vehicle went over the guide rail and down an embankment, where it came to rest on the driver’s side in a grassy area.
A witness saw Coon swerve several times before impact. It is believed that Coon may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash. Overman said that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Coon was not wearing his seatbelt at the time.
