Gardner Minshew II summed up the day quickly. It was very hard, he said.
The Jaguars second-year quarterback was speaking specifically about the first half of a 40-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., Sunday. He could have been talking about the entire game, with the Jaguars offense struggling in Minshew s first start since late October.
Minshew, who retook the starting job after playing a quarter and a half in loss to the Tennessee Titans last week, completed 22 of 29 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions Sunday. He passed for 53 yards during a first half in which the Jaguars had 61 total yards – and after which the Ravens led, 26-0.

J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets!
This was the No. 1 inbox theme Sunday night – and why not? The New York Jets beat the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, a dramatic 23-20 victory that gave the Jets their first victory of the season. As most Jaguars followers know, that essentially means that if neither the Jaguars nor Jets win again this season the Jaguars almost certainly will have the No. 1 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. That could mean an opportunity to select Clemson University quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Suffice to say the inbox, Twitter and all other bastions of lunacy that house Jaguars Nation were happy Sunday evening. We ll talk far more about this in the coming days and weeks. I suspect many fans will speak and think of little else. That s fair, and pretty much as it should be. The Jaguars have been without a franchise quarterback far too long. Why shouldn t the thought of being able to select one entice Jaguars fans?
Copied!
JACKSONVILLE – Senior writer John Oehser examines what we learned from the Jaguars 40-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., Sunday …
1.The streak is record-setting. The Jaguars now have lost 13 consecutive games, tying a franchise record set over the last five games of the 2012 season and the first eight games of the 2013 season.
2.The Jaguars and Jets are tied. The Jaguars loss and the New York Jets victory over the Los Angeles Rams late Sunday afternoon left the Jaguars and Jets tied for the NFL s worst record at 1-13. The Jaguars currently have a worse strength of schedule than the Jets. If the Jets and Jaguars finish the regular season tied and the Jaguars finish with the worst strength of schedule, the Jaguars would hold the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

This felt like a bad matchup for the Jaguars before the game.
It never felt different.
The Jaguars on Sunday afternoon lost to the playoff-contending – and therefore highly-motivated – Baltimore Ravens by a score of 40-14, a loss at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., that felt every bit as one-sided as the score indicated.
The Ravens led 26-0 at halftime. They sacked quarterback Gardner Minshew II for a safety to start the scoring, then scored 24 points on their next four possessions. The Ravens at one point scored on six of seven possessions, with the only non-scoring possession coming when kicker Justin Tucker missed a 57-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. They sacked Minshew five times for the game, and former Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue had two sacks and a forced fumble.
Yet another quarterback change had minimal effect.
An inexperienced, beat-up defense continued to struggle, too – and those two factors combined for another difficult day for the Jaguars.
Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II, starting for the first time in eight weeks, struggled against an aggressive defense and the Baltimore Ravens offense overwhelmed the Jaguars defense throughout a 40-14 Ravens victory at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., Sunday afternoon. I can tell you what I told them in the locker room: Hey listen, we came out here today and this team was clearly the better team today, Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone said. There are some things, obviously, I thought we did well.
