COLTS NECK - Police are investigating after an armed man robbed the Manasquan Bank on Route 34 Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The man walked into the bank wearing a red facemask and carrying a clipboard. He showed a handgun to the teller and made off with about $600, said Lt. Brian Caswell, a Colts Neck police spokesman.
The suspect fled the area and Caswell said police have not yet identified him.
The robbery was reported shortly after 3 p.m.
Colts Neck police, the Monmouth County Prosecutor s Office and the FBI are all involved in the investigation, Caswell said.
Manasquan Bank posted a notice on its website Monday evening informing customers that the Colts Neck branch would be closed until further notice.
