February 1st 32 calls for service Animal abuse reported Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report that someone had injured a dog in Dakota Tipi First Nation. An individual entered a yard on Dakota Drive and stuck the dog with an unknown object causing injuries to the animal. Officers contained the area and called in the Police Dog Service to track the suspect. The Police Dog Unit tracked the suspect to another residence on Dakota Drive where the track was lost.

RCMP seize cocaine and arrest drug traffickers in ongoing investigation Corwyn Friesen, mySteinbach Drugs, Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia seized by RCMP. Two individuals have recently been arrested in connection to an ongoing drug investigation led by the RCMP Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST). On January 27, 2021, at approximately 7:10am, as part of an ongoing drug investigation, CREST, along with Winnipegosis RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant on a residence located in Pine Creek First Nation, Manitoba. As a result of the search, officers seized approximately 50 grams of cocaine, 528 grams of hash, 1128 grams of shake (cannabis clippings), 242 grams of cannabis, an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Article content When officers arrived, two people could be seen arguing outside the residence. Officers did multiple checks on the male and discovered he had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. The 29-year old male suspect from Portage la Prairie was then placed under arrest. The suspect then tossed a prohibited weapon to avoid being caught with it and now faces new charges of Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Weapons Possession Contrary to an Order and Fail to Comply with Release Order along with several other charges from the outstanding Warrant of Arrest. He appeared in court that morning and was released on Court Ordered documents to follow conditions and appear in court again at a later date.
