2021 Interstate 90 Construction Season Starts Monday Driver alert. The 2021 Interstate 90 construction season kicks off this week. A press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation says the work will start with the installation of a new roundabout. The release says the Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews will be building a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of I-90 and Canyon Road. The work could impact your commute because during the work there ll be one-way alternating traffic at Canyon Road weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the eastbound on-and off-ramps at Canyon Road will be closed weeknights from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. State officials warn that State Route 821 through the Yakima River Canyon will remain accessible at all times but they say they expect a lot of congestion and that you may want find a different route.
