The Youngstown City School District has announced that its superintendent, Joe Meranto, plans to retire after 18 years with the district. He had been appointed superintendent four years ago.
He will retire June 30. In a news release, the district quoted from a letter from Meranto. Having devoted the past 50 years to the educational profession, the last 18 in the Youngstown City Schools, I believe it is time to close this chapter of my life and move on to a new chapter, Meranto wrote. In retrospect, I look back at my career with few regrets and can honestly say I could not have chosen a more rewarding profession and fulfilling life.
