On June 5, York police arrested Alexis Cado-Suero, 15, for the shooting death of 16-year-old Tyree Smart, who was shot and killed March 27 while Smart walked in the 300 block of West Newton Avenue.
A patrol officer found Cado-Suero while investigating gunshots that were heard in the area of South West Street and West King Street, according to a news release.
The officer found the suspect and tried to stop Cado-Suero, but he fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, the officer apprehended Cado-Suero and he was taken into custody, according to the news release.
Cado-Suero was taken to central booking for arraignment. He was wanted for criminal homicide.

Over the last couple of weeks, the York Daily Record has sent three people to the York County Clerk of Courts Office, requesting to look at files in various criminal cases.
In all instances, they were denied the
right to look at those documents in the office free of charge and were told they must pay for hard copies or to have digital versions sent to them.
The key word there is “right.”
You have a right as a citizen of this presumptively open and transparent commonwealth to look at criminal case files without paying for them.

York County Clerk of Courts Dan Byrnes has effectively cut off the public’s ability to view criminal court records for free, a move that runs afoul of both the Pennsylvania and U.S. Constitutions and common law principles that require open courts.
In the past, there were two computers in the office, which is on the first floor of the York County Judicial Center. People could use them to look at documents the clerk no longer has paper files with a software called Laserfiche. The department removed them in recent years.

Sunday said his office made the move based on the circumstances of the investigation as well as for reasons that are outlined in the underlying motion to seal. Common Pleas Judge Harry M. Ness, he said, approved the request.
