YORKTOWNE HOTEL gets tax credit to help with renovation project

Pennsylvania is providing tax credits to preserve 27 historic buildings.Five of the buildings are in the Susquehanna Valley:Wayne Building in Waynesboro, Franklin CountyJohn F. If it looks historic and it was in a public space, it will be restored, said Kim Hogeman, with the York County Economic Alliance.The ballroom is undergoing a major facelift, and improvements are being made to the lobby.Hogeman said the challenge is maintaining the historic architecture while modernizing the structure. Adding a new elevator shaft that has the least amount of historic impact was a real challenge, she said.The hotel has 123 rooms.
