The New York Department of Environmental Conservation reports that an estimated 253,990 were harvested in 2020, a 13 percent increase from 2019. Overall, New York saw an increase of 7 percent in license sales, a trend the DEC credits to additional hunters afield and renewed motivation for longtime hunters.

As a resident of upstate New York, I encourage the public to not only stay informed about healthy trails but to also contact the New York Department of Environmental Conservation to fund trail reconstruction efforts.
