Far more kids are at risk of not getting enough to eat since the pandemic put thousands of New Yorkers out of work and city kids have it harder than children anywhere else in the state.
New projections compiled by the non-profit No Kid Hungry show that the number of food insecure children has skyrocketed over the past two years, a trend that has advocates clamoring for city and state officials to do more.

Hunger refers to a personal, physical sensation of discomfort, while food insecurity refers to a lack of available financial resources for food at the household level.
