The + POOL Is Heading to New York City s East River

+ POOL strives to reclaim the river as a recreational resource for the city, while educating the public about issues affecting our water quality, the + POOL website reads. According to Architectural Digest, the idea for the floating pool was originally conceived by Archie Lee Coates IV and Jeff Franklin of the design firm PlayLab, and Dong-Ping Wong and Oana Stanescu of the architecture firm Family, well over a decade ago. In the years since the idea was conceived, the team has worked to raise funds, develop filtration systems, test the filtration systems and more. If construction for + POOL goes smoothly and the appropriate funds are raised, New Yorkers can expect to dive in within about two years.
