Portion of Niagara Scenic Parkway in Niagara Falls to be closed nightly

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) â The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced road work is scheduled for the Niagara Scenic Parkway in Niagara Falls this week. As a result of the road work, nightly road closures are scheduled.
Beginning May 5 at 6 p.m. Niagara Scenic Parkway from Interstate 190 and LaSalle Expressway East intersection to John Daly Boulevard will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic and will reopen by 6 a.m. Motorists will follow a posted detour along John Daly Boulevard to Buffalo Avenue to Interstate 190 and LaSalle Expressway East intersection, a release says.

“Safety is always our top priority at the Department of Transportation and I can t thank our partners in law enforcement enough for the work they are doing to help protect our team members,” NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez previously said.
“Our highway crews and contractors work in dangerous conditions to keep our roads and bridges safe so that we can all get where we need to go safely and efficiently.”
Under “Operation Hardhat,” troopers are present within the work zones, dressed as highway maintenance workers, to identify motorists who disobey flagging personnel, speed through the work zone, or violate the state s Move Over Law, which applies to both emergency and maintenance vehicles.

GENESEO â The Route 63 bridge replacement project in Geneseo, that was completed in September of 2020, has been recognized as one of the stateâs top infrastructure projects of last year.
New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez announced Tuesday that the project is the recipient of the American Public Works Association Genesee Valley Chapterâs 2020 Project of the Year Award in the Transportation $5 million to $25 million category.
The achievement recognizes excellence in creativity, ingenuity and efficiency in public works projects which have a significant impact on the community, Dominguez said.
