As India faces a major increase in coronavirus cases, the European Union (EU) is channelling further support via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. On April 27, the European Union announced initial offers of support made by Ireland, Belgium, Romania, Luxembourg, Portugal and Sweden. The commission is announcing further support packages from France, Italy, Austria and Finland, as well as additional supplies from Ireland via the mechanism: France: 8 oxygen generators, each of which can make an Indian hospital autonomous in oxygen supply for approximately 10 years; liquid oxygen; and 28 ventilators. As India faces a major increase in coronavirus cases, the EU is channelling further support via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. On 27 April, the European Union announced initial offers of support made by Ireland, Belgium, Romania, Luxembourg, Portugal and Sweden.
Today the Commission is announcing further support packages from France, Italy, Austria and Finland, as well as additional supplies from Ireland via the Mechanism:
France: 8 oxygen generators, each of which can make an Indian hospital autonomous in oxygen supply for approximately 10 years; liquid oxygen; and 28 ventilators
Italy: 1 oxygen generating plant model, 20 ventilators
A strengthened EU Civil Protection Mechanism endorsed by European Parliament

The European Parliament has voted for strengthening the role of the European Union (EU) in crisis management through a legislative revision of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This allows for faster and more effective European solidarity operations in response to large-scale emergencies or disasters that affect several countries at the same time. The EU will have at its disposal additional financial means for civil protection and will strengthen emergency tools such as the rescEU medical reserve of protective equipment. As a direct response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this boost to the EU Civil Protection will ensure that no EU Member State will face shortages of personal protective equipment in the future.
