YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION OKS PLANT PERMITS, ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

The Yucca Valley Planning Commission met last night to approve a few native plant permits and elect the chair and vice chair for the next 12 months. Reporter Joshua King has the details… The meeting began with a quick approval of six separate native plant permits. Following, the commissioners began their selection and approval process for the positions of Planning Commission chair and vice chair. Commissioner Matthew Thomas was selected to serve as the chair, with Commissioner James Henderson assuming the role of vice chair. The meeting concluded with the commission receiving and filing its General Plan Annual Housing Progress Report.

YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION: NATIVE PLANT PERMITS AND RITE AID SIGNAGE

The Yucca Valley Planning Commission will meet tonight to take action on more native plant permits as well as an update to Rite Aid signage. Reporter Joshua King has more details… Tonight at 6 p.m., the Yucca Valley Planning Commission will convene to discuss and approve the removal of 13 Mojave yucca and nine California juniper across three separate native plant permits. Following, the Planning Commission will discuss a development update for Blue Star RV, and will approve previously requested alterations to the signage of the Rite Aid located at 57701 Twentynine Palms Highway.

The Yucca Valley Town Council met last night to discuss complaints surrounding short-term vacation rentals and a special order regarding the Western Joshua Tree. Reporter Joshua King has more details… A central focus of last night’s meeting was to discuss a report of 60 complaints lodged towards the town’s short-term vacation rentals since December 1, 2017. The majority of complaints concerned excessive noise, overflowing trash, and trespassing. The Town Council received and filed the report after hearing public comments from multiple sides, with the majority of speakers raising concerns about the impact of short-term vacation rentals on the local community, criticizing the Town for not providing enough information to the public in this area.
