Jill Sobule playing at Princeton LGBTQ fundraiser

More than 25 years ago, Jill Sobule helped boost the visibility of LGBTQ stories in mainstream pop music with her playful and endearing 1995 folk-rock single I Kissed a Girl. This weekend, the singer/songwriter will be in New Jersey to lend her voice in support of an organization that works to serve members of the state s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and their allies, the Princeton-based Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice. “I consider myself an activist, and part of what I do, I believe, is these sorts of things, Sobule said.  I always say I’ve become the nonprofit singer, and that’s important to me   that’s just part of my DNA. That’s what I do and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s more important to me to feel like you’re leaving a gig feeling like you did some good other than playing a bar.”
