Welfare check leads to stash house discovery Finding is result of multiple agencies YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - In collaboration with Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) and Yuma Police Department (YPD), the Yuma Sector Border Patrol arrested six illegally-present individuals after they were discovered in a stash house Tuesday afternoon. Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from law enforcement agencies at a trailer located in the Cottonwood Trailer Park at approximately 3 p.m. Courtesy Photo YCSO and YPD conducted the welfare check on the trailer following a report of suspicious activity. Both agencies then discovered six suspected immigrants inside.

(KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Sheriff s Office (YCSO) is appealing to the federal government to start paying its fair share for the incarceration of undocumented immigrants. YCSO released a statement Thursday citing the high cost of housing accused drug smugglers in the Yuma County Detention Center (YCDC). Internal records show, it cost more than $2 million for deputies to feed and house the 293 accused marijuana mules brought to the YCDC by U.S. Border Patrol and ICE between 2015 and 2018.
