San Francisco supervisors approved the settlement of a class action lawsuit Tuesday by jail inmates who sued the city over “cruel and unusual” sleep denial and disruptions.
The Board of Supervisors voted in favor of the settlement for $30,000 during Tuesday’s meeting. The lawsuit resulted in extending nighttime sleep from five to seven hours and making efforts to minimize sleep disruption, but lawyer Yolanda Huang said plaintiffs remaining in custody “are refusing” to sign off on the settlement because of the way it’s bee
