Sun, 23 May 2021 16:54 UTC © Bebeto Matthews/AP The student government at Rutgers Law School is telling student groups they must promote Critical Race Theory or lose funding, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE). Critical Race Theory is an academic movement transpiring at schools across the country teaching children the U.S. is fundamentally racist, and that they must view every social interaction and person in terms of race or color in order to be antiracist. On Monday, FIRE called on Rutgers University to rescind a requirement that forces student groups to host certain ideological events in order to be eligible for funding.

I was listening to talk radio tonight. Parents calling in. Students calling in…. One woman said she’ll be a student, but also an employee. As a student she’s required to get the vaccine. As an employee, she is not.   The university will require all students to be vaccinated before arriving on campus in the fall Rutgers University will require the COVID-19 vaccine for students who are enrolled for the 2021 fall semester. Assurances from the federal government that vaccines will be available for all Americans by the end of May and assessments by public health experts prompted university leaders to adjust the vaccine requirements for the fall semester.

Would it be controversial here in America’s conservative center? Oh yes, indeed it would. But consider the comments made this week by Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway. In an interview Wednesday, April 14, on CBS News, Holloway said he feels confident Rutgers is on firm legal ground for requiring the mandate, and also that the reaction from the student body has been “wholly positive.” And, he said, “for those who simply don’t want to, the fact is there are a lot of other options for their education. I hate to say it that harshly, but that is the fact. We will have the safest possible campus.”
