Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force officers will team up to concentrate on enforcing the speed limit, distracted driving and seat belt safety during “Operation Look-Out” Friday, Jan. 22.Task force officers from Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD), Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol will patrol in designated areas of the city and county from 8 a.m. to noon.They will concentrate on traffic safety from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Medical Center P .

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Patrol Cpl. William Travis earned the Middle Tennessee Law Enforcement Network Deputy of the Year award from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh presented the award to Travis Wednesday.

Authorities need help from the community on a theft case involving storage units.
Evidently, thieves stole property kept at Gum Road Mini Storage. The thefts happened in December and January at the East Gum Road business, a sheriff’s detective reported.
A man driving a red or maroon GMC truck stole a 6.5 horsepower Champion generator from a box truck parked at the business on Christmas day.
The owners obtained photos of the truck that was used to move the generator. The truck was an extended cab truck that had a black hood.
