PTI MPAs submit bill for teaching of Quran

Members of the Sindh Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have submitted a bill in the legislature regarding teaching of Holy Quran in the educational institutions.
The draft law, titled ‘Sindh Compulsory Teaching of Holy Quran Bill 2021’, was recently submitted PTI MPAs Shahzad Qureshi, Rabia Azfar and Arsalan Taj. The bill was prepared after consultations with religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and other scholars.
The PTI leaders proposed in the bill that Nazra should be taught to the children from their first to fifth grades and Quran should be taught with translation in the sixth to twelfth classes.

These views were expressed by senior journalist Zarrar Khuhro while moderating a national dialogue aimed at generating a discourse around Pakistan’s education priorities. The virtual dialogue was organized by Education Champions Network, a platform of 12 civil society organizations advocating for 12 years of free, equitable, quality education for every girl in Pakistan. Senior political representatives from across the country who participated in this event included Senator Mr. Mushahid Hussain Syed and MPAs Madiha Nisar and Zeenat Bibi from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shamim Aftab from Punjab and Rabia Azfar from Sindh.
